Really, it’s just “hello friends.” Although I’m dipping my toe into the blogging world, this blog won’t be searchable on standard engines. I’m a little paranoid about privacy issues. Having said that, feel free to share my url with friends who might be interested.
So what’s up with this? Some of you know how I like to write. And write. And…. well, OK, you’ve all been victims at one time or another of my REALLY LONG e-mails, which tend to read more like journal entries than anything else. And I did spend a couple of years filling a couple of “analog” journals with cramped handwriting, going on about all manner of Stuff. Some of it I wouldn’t dream of sharing for the world (even my world) to see. Some of it, though, turned out to be the musings of someone who would really like, someday, to write with a purpose – in other words, so that others might actually read it and be interested.
Given my other responsibilities, I won’t have the time until approximately age 62.5 (or whatever the magic age is – I don’t know) to fulfill my vision of sitting with a mug of coffee in front of a scenic picture window, writing words that might actually net me some pin money while entertaining my adoring fans. So here I am. Feeling incredibly weird and silly and vulnerable and just plain arrogant for thinking that anyone really cares. But I figure if I just start by giving a few trusted friends the address of this site, maybe you’ll be supportive enough (while snickering behind your hands) that I’ll feel less awkward and more comfortable writing words for public consumption. That, after all, is my eventual goal.
I’ll post when I can – hopefully at least a few times a week. At first you’ll think “she does go on…” That’s because I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and have lots of pent up material waiting for an outlet.
Why the title? I was inspired to start blogging by the huge community of knitting bloggers out there. Wow – I was looking for random knitting “how-tos,” and found this whole world I never imagined. And this bunch is smart – lots of great writing, posts about reading, world events, and other content you’d never suspect if you were just browsing the blog names. I’m especially enamored of NowNormaKnits2.typepad.com. This gal is funny and has quite a following – understandably so, when you read her.
A warning or two. One, I really am an idiot about technology, so I’ll try my best with links, photos, and such, but give me time to get things organized. Two, I’m prone to random interruptions – requests to review homework, make dinner, converse with my family, do legal work, etc. may frequently intervene in my musings. I apologize – just bear with me. I’ll get to it sooner or later.
