I Think I’ve Started a Trend

So I’m waiting for D2’s indoor soccer game to start last night.  I had the Boku bag with me, tucked away, in case of emergency, but I didn’t really have enough time to do anything with it before the game started, so I controlled myself and chatted with the other moms, like a regular person.  [...]

In Search of A Good Laugh

I’ve got a couple of posts in reserve, neither of which seem quite right for today.  I’m feeling slightly under the weather – which is actually a fairly low place at the moment, since the windchill is in the negatives and the wind itself would easily whisk away the average eight-year-old.  (Yeesh – enough already with [...]

Oh, No, Not Another Speech…

Ms. Joan surprised me today by nominating me for a You Make My Day award.

Wow, thanks Joan!  This is indeed a rare occasion.  Of course there are strings attached – I now get to nominate 10 bloggers who make my day, so they can pass on the fun.  Of course some people will be nominated [...]

Everyone Wants a Booga!

[Ed.  -- Warning - the author appears to have ascended the Knitting Soapbox before drafting this post - forgive her.  She's new here.]
Looks like I’m going to continue knitting some serious baggage in the foreseeable future.  Knitting and felting bags is what got me back into knitting in November, after a 30-year time out.   I have made [...]

Stick a Foot in It!

This weekend was one of Knitting Milestones.  I turned my first heel.  I knit my first instep gusset.  And by God, I kitchenered (which sounds suspiciously like what I do when I have a bad case of pms).
Please to observe my lovely heel:

And my masterpiece, pre-kitchener:

And the finished article:

See that nice toe?

I’m sure you hadn’t noticed that [...]

Dumbest Idea Ever!

Who got the keys to this thing??!!  Someone snuck in here while I was BUSY and posted a really stupid TV meme.  Well, the meme was OK, but the answers?  Yikes!  Obviously, the interloper had not yet had her morning coffee!
Really, who could be so dunderheaded as to forget the first moon landing or 9/11 [...]

Where My Heart Is

[Ed.:  A certain Fairy Godknitter inspired today's post. ]
I have never understood women who say they could never stay at home.
Maybe it’s more accurate to say that while I understand their viewpoint, I don’t espouse it.  I have said before and will probably say again that I have a great job that I enjoy very much.  Not [...]

Wednesday Wanderings

We’re cheerier today.  Yes, that’s a word.
Thank you for the thoughtful comments yesterday.  For a bunch of people haters, you’re OK!
I had a great conversation with a friend yesterday.  We were discussing kids, as moms are wont to do.  She is also the mother of two girls, but hers have both graduated from high school [...]

Malaise

I wish I knew why such random, terrible things happen to people.
Yesterday brought devastating news about the death of the adult child of close family friends.   This lovely young woman had her whole life in front of her, and it was cut short by a random act of violence.   There are simply no words.
Later I made the [...]

Monday Musings

Thanks to all who stopped in over the weekend.   Everyone must have been glued to their monitors due to inclement weather.
Norma posted quite eloquently today about writing, the inadvertent use of words that could offend, and the possibilities of drama (of the not fun kind) that can crop up in Blogistan in these long months [...]
