After admitting to myself that lace weight does not lend itself to my ham-handed ways, I banished the Shimmer to the stash closet. It is dead to me.
Fickle knitter that I am, I found an excellent replacement within 24 hours of the Frogging Incident. I dithered a fair amount, but finally settled on Plymouth Buckingham Bristol, color 1016. And I’m here to tell you, knitting with this stuff is like butta. Funny that it’s another alpaca silk blend, but this one is so soft and smooth, and it’s knitting up like a dream. The fingering weight, while still delicate, is so much easier for me to handle.
I’m a happy knitter. I might want to buy stock in this company. Or at least find somewhere I can get free shipping on as many skeins of this yarn as I can get my hands on. Here’s where I was when it was still light enough to take a photo outdoors yesterday:
Other knitalongers have shared some beautiful work. Have you checked out Cheryl’s Forest Canopy? Or Joan’s Flower Basket? How about Kerry’s Forest Canopy?
In other knitting news, while I was at the LYS, I got the cute young girl who works there to teach me to use the swift and ball winder. She let me wind up one of my hanks of yarn, under her excellent tutelage. I’m quite pleased with myself, since I happen to be in possession of my very own swift and ball winder thanks to the generosity of a wonderful friend, but I hadn’t a clue how to make them work together!
Finally, does anyone have any tips for staying far away from this?:

Yep, Noro sock yarn, which is being shamelessly pimped by another of my LYSs. I won’t go there. I won’t. How did they get my e-mail address, anyway?

Lovely, I’m so glad you are back on track. I love Plymouth’s yarns. My LYS stocks a good selection so I will have to look for this one or talk them into stocking it. And I think I have the same colors of the Noro, know I’m going to have to knit it aren’t I?

Thank you for the nice little into to that Plymouth yarn, I don’t think any of the lys carry it (we only have 3 :^(

That yarn does look wonderful. What is the weight of it?
Yeah. You’re Knot Much of a Knitter. *SNORT*
Noro sock. Want!

You’re doing great with the return of the Shower Gasket. I may be rejoining you with that one. I need to see if I have enough yarnage.
The Noro feels weird, is thick and thin, and may be more evil than Stacey. Did that help?

An inanimate object is more evil than Stacey? Not possible. Pretty gasket.

What Cookie said. Probably also full of vegetable matter and sheep poo. Well, I don’t know about the latter, or anything, actually. Me, I do not feel the Noro love and you can have my share of it.

I’ve heard evil things about the Noro sock yarn, but there are four of us doing a mini KAL with it and the Snowdrops sock pattern, and we all like it just fine. It knits up most prettily.

Heh. “ham handed”! Shimmer is dead to me too. If that is any help which it is not but there you go.
