The Opinionated Listener.

I’m back on the topic of knitting podcasts, since of late I’ve been sampling many, liking some, rejecting more.
First, I have to say that telling a non-knitter that I listen to knitting podcasts is much like telling someone that I enjoy watching pots boil or grass grow.  I’ve given up trying to explain that the best [...]

Random Musings.

… If you missed the latest This American Life, entitled “Ground Game,”   I highly recommend that you listen to it.  The discussion of the racial prejudices that may drive voting in this election is especially fascinating, and reminds me that I may live in a bubble of my own making, because the idea that such [...]

Last, and Best.

This week’s knitting post, Part the Third.
When I took delivery of Joan’s package containing the meringue sweater pattern the other day, the envelope felt suspiciously squishy, and sported a bit of a lump.
The squishy lump turned out to be a sneaky and wonderful surprise:

How gorgeous is this?  Hopefully Joan can fill in the stats for us – all I can tell [...]

What I’ll Be Knitting for the Foreseeable Future.

This week’s knitting post, Part the Second
(Did you come here for exercise talk?  Yes, I’m doing that, too.  I promise I’ll post something fitness related one of these days – at least I’m not talking about food today!)
If you read Joan, you may recall that a while back, for reasons known only to her, she decided [...]

Succumbing, Once Again, to Peer Pressure.

You should have figured out by now that I was a terrible teenager.  Anything the Cool People did, I thought I must do, too.  So I wore leg warmers with Tretorn sneakers and jeans, permed my long, straight hair, thought sweatpants were a fashion statement, and…  Well, I won’t go into the rest, but you can [...]

Yesterday’s Sky.

The tree progresses.  I managed to snap this before the sun went away and the winds began to howl.  Today I’m hearing dire predictions of the “s” word.
I remain in denial.
Hope you’re having a good weekend!  Stay warm!

Bits and Pieces.

Ah, Friday.  We’re looking at dismal weather for the weekend, but I will make lemonade of those lemons by concocting some form of comfort food, drinking tea, knitting, and maybe doing something about switching the summer clothing for the warm stuff.  I make no promises as to the latter feat, however.
Nothing but trivia for today…

In [...]

Little Things.

Two women in my newly-discovered knitting group have a wonderful blogging concept.  Each day they list three things that they are happy about, or grateful for.  Sort of like a gratitude journal, but virtual, rather than pen-and-ink.  I of course put them both on my feed aggregator (which has been behaving for the past couple of days, [...]

Another Reason to Love Fall.

It really is more fun to cook in cool weather.  When I see these,

I think of something like this:

Chili, my own recipe, made with ground beef, Mexican chorizo, kidney beans, and other assorted chili goodness.  I also add a can of beer to mine, along with the beef stock and crushed tomatoes.
Chili is a [...]

Ten on Tuesday.

Haven’t done this for a while, and it IS Tuesday, and I don’t have anything much on the fitness front to say other than I’m getting a bit cranky about people scheduling meetings that interfere with my morning runs.  Stop that!
Today’s Ten is Ten of the Best Meals You’ve Had.
Hmmm.  This list is completely random, [...]
