Tagged.

Sandy tagged me for a photo meme the other day.  It requires me, the tag-ee, to go to my sixth photo folder and post the sixth photo I find there (and then tag six people to carry on).
I was apprehensive about what I might find, but instead of you getting a picture of my foot in some mis-aimed shot [...]

Still Thankful.

Today, I am thankful for do-overs.
Here was my Meringue Yoke Cardi as of Wednesday night – done, except the buttons.

Looks good from here, right?
What you can’t tell from the photograph is that this sweater is GINORMOUS.  The yoke expanded to the size of Canada as I knit, making the bottom of the sweater drop past [...]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Does anyone else think it’s warm in here?

It is therefore recommended … to set apart Thursday the eighteenth day of December next, for solemn thanksgiving and praise, that with one heart and one voice the good people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts and consecrate themselves to the service of their divine benefactor …

Week of Thanks, Wednesday.

Today, I am thankful for ability.
… The ability to work, to support my family.
… The ability to reason, to avoid running off the road in the twists and turns of life.
… The ability to read, to feed my mind.
… The ability to exercise, to strengthen my body.
… The ability to love, to fortify my existence.
… [...]

Week of Thanks, Day Two

Today, I am thankful for heroes.  Or maybe I should say inspiration.  Whatever, I’m so grateful to the people near and far who serve as reminders of what we can be.
My parents are high on my list of heroes.  I miss them always, but especially this time of year, with the family making plans for [...]

Week of Thanks, Monday Edition.

In honor of the impending holiday, I thought I would reflect a bit this week on that for which I am thankful…  starting with the mundane, but essential fact that my family has more than enough delicious, healthy food to eat.

It’s a challenge to stop and reflect on the fact that I have never in [...]

Good for the Soul, if Not the Wallet.

I missed this article in the New York Times last week, but someone at knitting group mentioned it.   It heralds Lion Brand Yarn’s first retail store, which opened in Manhattan on Tuesday.
The company president declares knitting to be a “recession proof” activity, because it is accessible even – and perhaps especially – when people are focused [...]

Fridays are Good for the Mojo!

Friends are, too.  And so is finishing a sleeve in record time and actually having the energy to affix sleeves to body and start a yoke…
Ms. Joan, my inspiration and guru, posted this yesterday.  (It’s her finished Meringue Yoke cardi – go look.  Come back!)  Isn’t it gorgeous?  She has paved the way for me [...]

No Significant Change…

The mojo is still on the lam, but I really enjoyed everyone’s comments yesterday.  Thank you!  Mulling things over, I realized I should point out that one reason I can’t just sit down and write whatever comes to mind is that I do a substantial amount of mental censoring.  I’m at a place in my personal life and career where it [...]

Where’s My Mojo At?

I have to admit it – my blogging mojo is waning now that I’m on the home stretch toward a year of almost daily posts.
I’m considering where I want to go with this after the whole 365 thing comes to a close.  I’ve taken many liberties with that, in any event, but most days for [...]
