A couple of weeks ago I mentioned our local Great Pumpkin display. Well, in spite of my best intentions, I never got there to get photos of it while it was up, and yesterday it was taken away.
So, here are some shots from last year (it’s pretty much the same every year, and always very fun to see) for those who mentioned they would like to see photos. I don’t know that my camera could have captured anything very well in the dark, anyway.
And, just to add to today’s fun, how about a quiz? My blogless, but dog-loving pals will love this one.

Border Collie

Border Collie:
Originated in Scotland/England border areas, this breed is intelligent, determined and brave, this dog forms a close bond with its family and is also eager to work. If not given work to do, the Border Collie will become badly behaved. It needs ample exercise, and its origin as a sheepdog and cattle-herder means that it is only happy when given specific tasks on a regular basis. They can’t sit still and they want you to be right out there doing their task with them. They are the leaders and motivators of the dog world.
Alaskan Malamute:
Originated in Alaska, USA, this breed is friendly, affectionate, and loyal, but can have a mind of its own. The malamute is built to work well within a team, and its friendliness makes it unsuitable for a watchdog, but brave enough to pull 110% of the load. Once set in a direction these dogs will continue in that track until someone with a firm hand and kind heart sets them onto a new destination. They are loving, but a workhorse that grows restless with too little to do.

I was driving past Schoolhouse Park yesterday and realized we didn’t make it to the Pumpkin display either! I feel especially horrible because it was M’s first year to participate (she carved with the Daisies last Saturday). It’s been one of those years…

I predict I will be a bassett hound or some other lazy beast…
Totally off – I came out as a border collie too. ARE there other breeds in that quiz?

I’m a border collie too! Given that I have a border collie, I’ll take that as a huge compliment.

Borders are always the smartest dog in the room. I can see that for you, Nora.
Btw, you would like the socks I had started for Squishy? I don’t see her getting them now. ;^)

Hmmm… Border Collie here too.
Perhaps there’s something about knitters that is like Border Collies –
oh wait, Joan had that thought too (see, I really should read the comments before I open my keyboard).
I like Border Collies. Imagine what they could knit!
