To-Do’s on Tuesday.

Today’s Ten on Tuesday is “Ten Things On Your To-Do List.”
Only ten?
1.  Log some miles for the 100 Mile Challenge.  I’m a bit short thus far.
2.  Schedule some overdue appointments.  Haircuts, checkups, etc.
3.  Finish my Lace Ribbon scarf.  And… OK, we won’t start listing unfinished knitting.   I’d have to curl into a fetal position in a [...]

Fear of Row 14, Conquered.

We woke up to this yesterday:
Yes, I intentionally kept that in thumbnail size.  I can’t bear to look at it any larger.
A snowy day left me off the hook for a few pesky things, though.  Like running, doing errands, or working outside.  As such, I was able to fulfill my goal of winding yarn and [...]

Social Networking: Seventh Grade, Without Lockers?

I told y’all a few weeks ago that I caved and got a Facebook account, mostly to see what the fuss was about.  Thought I’d update you on my Humble Opinion of the whole thing.
Pro:  I’ve found several people I thought lost to the time/space continuum.  People who were special to me, and with whom [...]

Inspired.

You may have read over at Cookie’s that she and I are planning to knit the Hemlock Ring Doily together.  (You might recall that a couple of months ago I was Jonesing to knit the blanket version of Hemlock Ring, but ditched the idea when I realized the yarn I had at the time wasn’t quite right [...]

Less is More, Except When More is More.

Have you noticed lots of healthy stuff going on in blogland these days?
There’s the Spring Into Summer challenge, which you can read all about in the link to Kathy’s blog.
Sandy has joined in, and she’s also Kicking the Can.  As are other folks.  That, and the idea of eating less junk in general, is the “less [...]

Brain Cramps and Other Chitchat.

1.  What is wrong with my brain? I’m sitting at the computer, hands poised over the keyboard, and I have no idea what I had, mere seconds ago, intended to do.  I walk into the kitchen, and when I get there, I’m stumped as to why I’m there.  I have attacks of aphasia, searching for simple [...]

A Quick Knit and Other Yarns.

What kind of a knitter am I if I attend a baby shower without a hand knit gift?
Don’t answer that.  No need, this time anyway.  The dilemma of lack of gender information (this one’s gonna be a surprise!) was creating a real roadblock to gift knitting for this particular little one.  No, I’m not of the [...]

Overheard on Ravelry.

Please, don’t hurt me.  I was just poking around the Ravelry forums and couldn’t help but giggle at certain questions and statements – some of which are funny only because they are taken out of context!  I thought I’d share a few…
“I can’t go five minutes without breaking the tips off my needles.”
  (Um… anger management?  [...]

Useful Knowledge.

The other day I was teaching my younger daughter how to measure flour, and the difference between baking soda and baking powder.  I got thinking about the things every kid should learn while still under a parent’s tutelage.  I thought I’d start a list.  In no particular order, here we go…
All kids should learn how [...]

A Fine Day.

Weekends, lately, have been rather laden with activity of the not-necessarily-relaxing kind.  Soccer tournaments, forensics meets, middle school dances, places to go, people to see…   All fine and fun in their way, but weekend time is so precious that when I have a lot of commitments on the weekend, I always feel like I’ve been [...]
