I’ve got this and that to share.
1. My Wii Fit age is 67. Sixty-seven. Two years past eligibility for Social Security! Twenty-two years older than my actual age! Well, this 67-year-old can still go out and run 5 miles without a problem, so I guess I’m a pretty fit senior citizen! Damn machine. Before anyone [...]

Progress.
Gaelic Mist is coming along.
Recall that I blocked the cabled portion last spring to see what I was dealing with. I then let it sit over the summer, and finally resumed knitting at the reverse stockinette portion of the bodice. So the top has never been blocked – the whole thing will benefit from a [...]

Random Wednesday.
1. Over the Thanksgiving break, I had a fun literary experience. I read Rebecca for the first time ever (how did that happen?) followed immediately by Daphne, a novel about Daphne du Maurier by Justine Picardie. The latter had been reviewed and recommended by my talented friend Becky, who blogs at abookaweek. (And she knits, too!)
Anyhoo, I [...]

FO: Heather Hoodie Vest
It was dry in time to wear it on Thanksgiving day!
I found some groovy buttons – sort of hard to capture their full effect in the gloomy weather, but they are carved of wood, in black and a natural tone.
I’d say the fit is just about perfect .
Sorry I didn’t get a shot of the [...]

Waiting Impatiently.
Whoever came up with that stuff about watching paint dry or waiting for pots to boil obviously wasn’t a knitter. I think the worst torture has to be waiting for a new sweater to dry so you can wear it!
I can’t get a decent photo in the room where it’s blocking - here’s a tease.
Hope your [...]

FO: Traveling Woman
The United Way shawl for Lesli is done:
A fun knit, for a great cause, to be enjoyed by a lovely friend.
Traveling Woman Shawl
Knit in Dream in Color Starry in the Ruby River colorway on size US 6 circular needles. Unfortunately the glimmer in the yarn doesn’t show up in the photos, but it’s there.
I knit [...]

Admirable Restraint.
I had the great pleasure of a knitterly outing on Friday afternoon, with my friend Lesli and her visiting sister, Lori.
Unfortunately, I FORGOT my CAMERA and can therefore provide no photographic evidence of the event.
Sigh. Anyway, we met at Fiberwood Studio, where Lesli and Lori had been hard at it for at least 30 minutes before [...]

Random Wednesday.
This is my maple tree, up close and personal-like.
I love this tree.
We’ve got lots of pretty fall color here, but the weather has been rather relentlessly gloomy (except when I don’t have my camera).
Made the first pot of chili over the weekend. You know summer’s over when the chili and jambalaya go into the menu [...]

Random Wednesday.
Please read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It reads like Brit Chick Lit, but with an undercurrent of the abject horrors of war. Does that sound appealing? Probably not, but really, it’s the best read I’ve had in a long time.
Who saw the Jim/Pam wedding episode of The Office? Who did not hurt [...]

Proof of Life (or at least proof that I’m still knitting even if I’m not blogging about it).
No, it’s not your eyes or your monitor – it’s my inability to hold the camera still while photographing brownish/greenish yarn in the waning light of a gloomy October day. Feh! It’s the back of the Heather Hoodie vest, zipping along nicely.
In other news, remember my silent auction donation? Happily, it was snapped up by a [...]
