Things are green, green, green around these parts.
We’ve got maple leaves.
And hosta leaves.
And fern fronds.
It’s probably no accident that my next knitting project will involve this:
Happy Sunday all! Hope you enjoy the day.

Spring is a funny thing here in the northern climes. It’s an elusive, mythical season. We have a dim recollection that we’ve seen it before, but maybe it was just something we read about on line, or heard about from our grandparents?
We slog through the long months of Wisconsin winter, enduring snow and down coats and gloves long [...]
Angie thought we were rebelling. Not a pointy stick in sight. Just two couples out having burgers and fries and talking about their days.
It was a lot of fun, as seeing Angie always is. I’m still chuckling over Dan’s look of mild affront when he said “I thought you were going to talk about knitting.”
Next time!
Please, don’t hurt me. I was just poking around the Ravelry forums and couldn’t help but giggle at certain questions and statements – some of which are funny only because they are taken out of context! I thought I’d share a few…
“I can’t go five minutes without breaking the tips off my needles.”
(Um… anger management? [...]
I don’t know why I have such a terrible time with this spring time change, but it gets worse every year.
I’m an avowed morning person. My best hour falls somewhere between 5:00 and 8:00 a.m. I’m pretty well useless by 8:00 p.m., and definitely comatose by 9:00. You’d think this would make springing ahead a [...]
In cruising the library, I stumbled upon a book I read some time ago, Queen Bee Moms and Kingpin Dads. It’s the sort of book that might give you stomach cramps, but in the end, it’s comforting to know that someone is officially calling out these toxic personality types.
If you’re not familiar with the book, I’ll bet you’re [...]
Dear Readers,
I have a confession to make.
I don’t love knitting socks.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. Unlike some of you, whose sock knitting for 2008 soared into the mid double digits, I knit a measly handful. For me, the sock is always the afterthought project. I’ve always got one on the needles, but [...]
1. Spam.
2. Ribbing.
3. Needles smaller than US2 (in fact, these may push me over the edge entirely).
4. The bus driver who hasn’t mastered the subtle application of the brake pedal.
5. Podcasters who surf Etsy shops for yarns or rovings and gush on about ”oh, this one is GORGEOUS” for 15 or 20 minutes of the recording. [...]
My Dear Readers know by now that I have a rather inexplicable thing for grammar, punctuation, and the well-turned phrase. I’m also a fan of words – I collect them, like others may collect rocks, or yarn, or Faberge eggs.
I love wordsmith.org, which e-mails me a word a day, along with a thought for the day. [...]
